Arizona CPA Foundation High School Scholarship

This scholarship program is one of the financial award programs offered by the Arizona CPA Foundation for Education and Innovation. The Foundation aims to influence the choices of high potential high school seniors to enter and pursue a career in accounting in Arizona. It supports the efforts of the Arizona Society of CPAs to attract and help prepare individuals with the highest potential to succeed and contribute to the accounting profession in Arizona through its various initiatives in formal education.

The Arizona Society of CPAs is the state’s leading professional CPA organization, with more than 6,000 licensed CPA members. Its mission is to enhance the success of its members and lead the accounting profession through education, advocacy, and image enhancement.

– Applicants must enroll in an Arizona university or community college as full-time students in the fall semester
– Applicants must designate their major in accounting
– Must be legal U.S. residents and valid residents of Arizona

Application Process:

1. Go to the Arizona Society of CPAs’ official website and download a copy of the scholarship application form.

2. Print or type your responses to the required information on the application form.

3. Request from your high school’s registrar a copy of your transcript showing your GPA, class rank, and standardized test scores, and attach it to your application. Please indicate on the application form if your school does not rank students.

4. Submit a personal statement that provides information about your community involvement, career goals and desire to contribute to your community. You should consider your personal statement as the equivalent to a personal interview with the Foundation’s scholarship committee. Please limit your personal statement to two (2) pages in length.

5. Ask a teacher or a school official to write a one-page letter of recommendation on your behalf. The letter should detail your background, achievements, leadership potential, and community participation. The letter should contain personal information about you. (Note: Form letters will be given minimum consideration.)

6. Read the Certification and Authorization portion before signing and dating the Authorization for Release of Records. If you are still below 18 years old, you’ll need to ask a parent/guardian to co-sign the release form.

Selection Criteria:

The Arizona CPA Foundation for Education and Innovation will choose the recipients based on the following criteria:

• Academic achievement as documented through the applicant’s GPA, class rank, and standardized test scores (ACT/SAT)
• Community involvement and demonstration of leadership skills as validated by the student’s personal statement and letters of recommendation

Award Disbursement:

The Arizona CPA Foundation will be paid directly to the Arizona university or community college that the recipients are enrolled in.
