CalCPA Los Angeles Scholarship


This scholarship program is awarded by the California CPA (CalCPA) Education Foundation’s Los Angeles Chapter to outstanding students pursuing a degree or advanced degree in accounting at an accredited college or university within the Los Angeles Chapter geographical area. The purpose of this scholarship award is to:

• Promote the future of the CPA profession;
• Financially help deserving accounting students;
• Enhance CalCPA’s visibility at colleges and universities; and
• Foster student membership and eventual licensure as a CPA.

The California CPA Education Foundation is the leading provider of continuing professional education for CPAs and financial professionals in the U.S. Through innovation and in partnership with the CPA profession, the Foundation is able to deliver quality education and build knowledge to foster excellence and advance individuals as well as the profession.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for this scholarship award, you must:

– Have demonstrated exceptional academic performance
– Be enrolled in, or completed principles of accounting or a more advanced accounting course with plans for taking additional accounting courses
– Be able to demonstrate leadership potential and significant participation in community service in either school or community organizations
– Be able to complete all requirements needed to sit for the CPA licensure exams by graduation
– Be attending or enrolling in an accredited college/university within the Los Angeles Chapter geographical area
– Be a CalCPA member (If you are not a CalCPA member, you may join for free via
– Must be able to attend the chapter’s installation program to receive the award

Application Process:

To be considered for this scholarship, your application packet must include the following:

• Updated resume
• Two (2) letters of reference from an accounting professor or dean
• Completed scholarship application form (Download a copy by visiting
• Current official transcript showing your GPA and course program
• A typewritten personal statement/essay on your current education and career goals and how you envision your involvement with CalCPA. (Please limit your personal statement/essay to one page)

Note: Incomplete and late applications will not be evaluated by the scholarship committee. Please make sure to postmark your application by the deadline.

Presentation of Awards:

The CalCPA scholarship committee is responsible for selecting the award recipient in mid-April. The checks and certificates will be presented at the chapter’s installation event in late May or early June of each year. The award recipient is required to attend the installation and receive the scholarship.

Note: To receive three (3) full annual installments of the scholarship, all requirements must be submitted before the graduation date.
