Community Foundation Sonoma County Scholarship

 

The Community Foundation Sonoma County aims to connect people, ideas, and resources to benefit the lives of those who live in there. Established in 1983, the Foundation now has over $130 million in assets and are held in over 450 charitable funds, which are created by individuals, families, community groups, and businesses.

Today, there are over 35 Legacy and new scholarship funds that are waiting to be given to worthy Sonoma County post-secondary, graduate, and professional degree seeking students. Students are given the opportunity to apply for as many financial aid programs that they qualify.

Eligible Students:

A student may apply for a scholarship that’s offered by the Foundation if he/she:
– Can show a clear need for financial assistance in order to pursue a higher education.
– Is a current Sonoma County resident; some programs do not require this
– Plans to attend as a full-time student in an accredited two or four-year college or university or vocational college
– Has an acceptable academic record

Application Process:

The Community Foundation Sonoma County offers 27 different scholarships. All of these scholarships can be applied for by using one application form.
1. Get a copy of the application form by visiting the Foundation’s official website.
2. Use the Scholarship Eligibility Chart to determine which scholarships you can apply for.
3. Once you find which scholarships you qualify, use the Scholarship Checklist to indicate which scholarship(s) you are applying for. Make sure you can provide all the required materials.
4. Fill out the “College” or “Re-entry” application form.
5. Write your Personal Statement by answering the Personal Statement Questions
6. Include any of the following:
a. Additional application materials that are specifically required by the scholarship(s) you have chosen.
b. If the scholarship(s) requires it, attach a Letter of Recommendation Form
7. Provide proof of financial need.
8. Make sure that you have all the required forms/documents and materials. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All applications must be sent to:

9. If you are chosen to be a scholar, you’ll be notified by the Foundation and will be required to submit one of the following to your chosen school’s financial aid office:
a. Financial Information Summary – New Student
b. Financial Information Summary – Continuing/returning student
