Constitutional Officers’ Association of Georgia (COAG) Scholarship

The Constitutional Officers’ Association of Georgia, Inc. (COAG) is a non-profit State Association that empowers its members to better serve Georgia citizens at the county level. Its vision is to ensure the quality of County governance through increased professionalism and cooperation among its members and various organizations. The Association also aims to promote professional and ethical standards through collaboration and to serve as a source for common issues and goals.

Amount: $500 to $1,000
Number of Scholarship Awards: Three (3) scholarships are awarded this year
Deadline: April 1
GPA: Check the official website for more information
Major: Law enforcement, political science, accounting/finance, pre-law, business, or a field relating to government.
Eligible Students: High school seniors and college undergraduates

Additional Requirements:

– Must be a United States citizen
– Must be a resident of the State of Georgia
– Must be planning to or currently enrolled in a school of accredited higher education within Georgia
– Must be pursuing a degree in any of the fields of study or majors mentioned above

Application Process:

1. Get a copy of the COAG Scholarship Application Form and fill it out completely.
2. Provide a proof of residency in the State of Georgia. This can be a copy of your driver’s license, passport, or a government-issued ID.
3. Compose an original essay (1000 words) based on a topic that the COAG will provide. The essay must be typewritten, double-spaced, twelve point font, on 8 ½ x 11 unlined white bond paper in the English language. Your essay must have a title page and cannot contain any reference to the city, town, or county where you reside or any reference to the high school you attended. Handwritten applications are not accepted.
4. Provide a letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university within Georgia indicating that you are pursuing any of the acceptable fields of study.
5. Place your application, supporting documents, and completed essay in a 9 x 12 envelope and mail or hand deliver to:

Note: Applications submitted anywhere else will not be forwarded or considered.

Award Guidelines:

All submitted applications will be reviewed by the Constitutional Officers’ Association of Georgia, Inc. Scholarship Committee. The committee members will choose the recipients based mainly on the applicants’ submitted essays, but will also consider the following:

• Presenting a letter of acceptance into a college/university located within Georgia
• Completed application

Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have made any contributions to their local government and/or their local enforcement community.

Please Take Note:

• All submitted essays will become property of COAG
• The winners’ names may be released by COAG to the public and news media for promotional purposes
• The scholarships will be awarded on May 1 and will be made payable to the recipients
