Davidson Fellows Scholarship

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship program is awarded by the Davidson Institute for Talent Development. This program provides monetary awards to extraordinary young people (below 18 years old) who have completed a significant piece of work in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, and Philosophy. The money may be used only for qualified tuition and other related expenses at an accredited college or university.

– Be at 18 years old or younger
– Be a United States citizen or a permanent resident
– Have completed a significant piece of work in one of the submission categories
– Be able to demonstrate that the work is your own creation (group works are not accepted)
– Be able to attend the awards reception in Washington, D.C. (Travel and lodging will be paid by the Institute)

Application Process:

1. Check if you qualify for the scholarship program.
2. Review the current year’s Category Requirements and Project Criteria by visiting the Institution’s official website.
3. Complete the online application. Submit the initial portion of your application as soon as possible. Your information and project description will be reviewed to ensure its eligibility
4. In the initial portion of the application, you’ll be asked to list the names and email addresses of each individual you have asked to complete the nominating form. The nominators will automatically receive an email with the Nomination Form link, which they must complete before the deadline. You will receive a notice once your nominators have completed the forms and submitted them to the Davidson Fellows program.
5. If your project is deemed eligible, your parents/guardians will receive an email with the Parent Form link.
They must fill out the forms and return it to the Davidson Fellows program.

Project Criteria:

One of the bases for selecting the award recipients is significance of the work. This is an accomplishment that experts in the field recognize as meaningful and has the potential to contribute to the field. Such work may be:

• An extraordinary creative application of existing knowledge
• An interdisciplinary discovery
• A prodigious performance
• A new idea having high impact on a field
• An innovative solution with wide-range implications
• An important advancement that can be replicated and build upon

Selection Criteria:

All submitted applications will be checked for completeness and accuracy. All qualified entries will then be categorized and reviewed by a team of judges comprised of professionals with expertise in related domain areas. The judges will choose the Davidson Fellows based on the following:

• The scope and quality of the work submitted
• The level of significance of the work submitted, as deemed by the experts in the domain area
• The applicant’s depth of knowledge and understanding of the work and the related domain area
