FIDM Designer of Tomorrow Scholarship Competition

The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising’s (FIDM) National Scholarship Competition seeks creative thinkers with great promise to become creative leaders in the industry. This is an opportunity for creative students to showcase their talents by demonstrating their strong understanding aesthetics and the ability to push their creative limits.

• Fashion Executive of Tomorrow (Merchandise Marketing)
• Interior Designer of Tomorrow
• Graphic Designer of Tomorrow
• Fashion Designer of Tomorrow
• Visual Designer of Tomorrow
• Digital Media Artist of Tomorrow
• Trend Spotter of Tomorrow (Merchandise Product Development)

Amount: $5,000 – $10,000
Number of Scholarship Awards: One winner for each category will be selected, plus 3 finalists will be chosen for the $5,000 awards

Additional Requirements:

– Must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents
– Must not be a current/former FIDM Students

Application Process:

1. Speak to an Admissions Advisor about your educational history, interests, and career goals for valuable guidance and feedback.

2. Go to and fill out the online scholarship application. When completing the application, have your credit card information ready to pay the $25 initial application fee.

3. To complete your application, the following documents must be provided:
a. Official transcript from your high school and all colleges/universities attended
b. SAT/ACT Scores (recommended, but not required)
c. Three recommendation letters from teachers, counselors, or employers. They may write the letters or fill out the Reference Request Form found at the website
d. One to 2-page essay answering the following questions:
i. What are your expectations, goals, hobbies, and special interests?
ii. What are your reasons for choosing FIDM?
iii. What appeals to you about the major you are considering?
iv. What are your goals and aspirations upon graduating from FIDM?

4. Fill out the Information & Authorization Form and the Student Acknowledgement of FIDM Academic Requirements Form.

5. Submit a portfolio entrance project for one of the seven categories listed above; make sure to read and follow the guidelines set within each category.

6. All application requirements which must be mailed must be sent to:

Selection Process and Criteria:

Upon submitting all the application requirements, FIDM will review the applications and will invite the applicants for an Acceptance Determination Interview on one of their campuses with an Admissions Officer. The winner and three (3) top finalists from each category will be selected based on the following:

• Creativity
• Thoughtfulness
• Presentation
• Promise
