MGMA Midwest Section Scholarships

The MGMA Midwest Section Scholarship is offered through the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) Scholarship Fund, Incorporated (SFI). This is a charitable organization that was created for the purpose of supporting and promoting health care leaders’ personal and professional growth in support of advancing the profession. The programs are intended to support individuals, who by virtue of experience, current position and plans, show potential to succeed and contribute to the medical practice management position.

Amount: $1,000 to $5,000

Major: Health care administration, medical group management, and other medical practice management.
The scholarship awards may not be used to support students pursuing degree in medicine, physical therapy, nursing, or other clinically related professions.
Eligible Students: Students residing in MGMA Midwest section states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Additional Requirements:

– Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program relevant to medical practice management.

Application Process:

1. Request an application form by visiting the MGMA official website at

2. You will receive an email that will provide you access to the online application. Complete the application by providing the necessary information. Please do not forget to indicate on the application the scholarship program you are applying for.

3. Submit a letter stating your career goals and objectives.

4. Provide an updated resume showing your employment history with a short narrative description of your specific employment responsibilities in the healthcare field.

5. Ask three (3) individuals to write you reference letters. Your references should know you well enough to address your character, potential to succeed in your chosen career.

6. Provide proof of your need for financial assistance. You can do this by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid-Student Aid Report (FAFSA-SAR) with your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).

7. Submit your application and all supporting materials, plus as self-address, stamped, business-size envelope to:

Selection Process:

The ACMPE Scholarship Fund, INC (SFI) maintains a Scholarship Review Committee and Scholarship Advisory Committees that review all submitted applications and recommends recipients to the SFI Board of Directors. It is the Board of Directors that makes the final decision on who would receive the awards. SFI committees conduct their work mostly between April through June each year.

Award Disbursement:

The award funds are sent directly to the college or university attended by the award recipient. The award monies are released by the SFI in the month of August.
