North American International Auto Show High School Poster Contest

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) High School Poster Contest provides a unique chance for young high school artists to participate in the NAIAS premier auto show, while gaining experience in creative competition. Award monies ranging from $100 to $1,000 are given to 16 talented artists for 16 different awards.

Additional Requirements:

– Michigan students currently enrolled in grades ten through twelve may apply
– No shared work is allowed
– Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) members, their families, or family members of the judges may not participate in this competition

Application Process:

Each contestant may submit up to two posters. All entries must be submitted the address shown below on or before the set deadline:

Poster Requirements:

– Theme: All posters must have an automotive theme. Please take note that any posters that contain brand-specific vehicles are not allowed. All subject matter must be in good taste.
– Copy: All posters must contact the following:
o “North American International Auto Show 2014”
o “Detroit”
o “Cobo Center”
o A credit line with the student’s name is acceptable
– The back of the poster must have the following in print:
o Student’s name
o Student’s contact number
o Student’s home address
o School name
o School address
o School contact number
o Student’s grade level
o Teacher’s name
o Principal’s name
– Size:
o Posters can be horizontal or vertical
o Posters are required to be mounted on matte board or foam core, etc.
o Poster must measure approximately 25”x 21”
– Media:
o Any mixed media suitable for reproduction as a poster is acceptable, including computer-generated graphics
o All submitted artwork must be camera-ready
o Posters must be in 2-D
o Posters must be original art of the student

Note: Submitted entries must be able to meet all the poster requirements in order to be considered for the contest judging.

Selection Guidelines:

All submitted entries will be reviewed by an independent panel of recognized representatives from the art community. These judges are chosen at the sole discretion of the NAIAS. The judges are not allowed to discuss the individual designs with any of the artists for any reason after the contest.

The award winners will be announced before the start of the public show at NAIAS in January.
The winning posters may be displayed at the NAIAS, reproduced in the official program and/or on the official NAIAS website.

Award Disbursement:

A student may win as much as $1,000. In order to receive the award, the winners are required to provide their Social Security numbers to the NAIAS.
