Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowships

The Ruth Lily Poetry Fellowship was established in 1989 and is sponsored by The Poetry Foundation. This Fellowship was established by Ruth Lily to encourage younger generations in writing and studying poetry. In 2013 the Poetry Foundation received a generous donation from the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Memorial Fund in order to create the Ruth Lily & Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships, which increased the award amount from $15,000 to $25,800.

The Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry Magazine, is an independent literary organization committed to a vigorous presence for poetry in our culture. The Poetry Foundation exists to discover and celebrate the best poetry and to place it before the largest possible audience. The Poetry Foundation continues to strive to become a leader in shaping a receptive climate for poetry by developing new audiences, creating new ways for delivery, and encouraging new kinds of poetry through various innovative partnerships, prizes, and programs.
