Sid W. Richardson Memorial Fund

The Sid W. Richardson Foundation was established in 1947 by Sid Richardson, himself. Although his interest reached far beyond the borders of Texas and his personal contacts were worldwide, Mr. Richardson was able to retain his utmost concern for the people of his home state – Texas. Because of this reason, he provided in the Foundation’s charter that all grants and scholarships must be awarded to deserving individuals residing in the state of Texas.

Over the years, the Board of Directors and the Foundation’s staff have sought to fulfill Sid Richardson’s vision by providing grants that were primarily centered in the areas of education, healthcare, human services, and culture. The Foundation started its current program of distributing major grants in 1962 when a large income from assets from Mr. Richardson became available. Grants are primarily made to organizations and not individuals.
